We run every kitchen remodel as a design/build project. Our in-house designers draw the room, you choose the cabinetry, stone, tile and flooring in our showroom on the Black Horse Pike in Pleasantville, and our own crews build it under one schedule and one contract.

A kitchen rarely stays inside its own four walls. Opening it to the living space means a wall comes out, which is structural work, and the floor, paint and trim beyond the kitchen usually follow. As a remodeler, we plan that larger picture in the design phase: our designers and builders work out the beam together, the flooring runs through the whole first floor, and the fixed written quote covers it all before demolition. If the baths are next, we design them now so the finishes agree with each other, then build in phases that suit your family and your calendar.

Shore kitchens and mainland kitchens want different things
Shore kitchens on Absecon Island and down the Cape May County coast are second-home and rental kitchens. In Margate and Longport the lots are tight, so the answer is storage designed into every wall and a kitchen opened to the living space and the water rather than more square footage. In the raised homes of Brigantine, Avalon and Stone Harbor the plan is there but the finishes were often done quickly for resale. Those projects run through the off-season, with photo updates for owners who are not in town.
Mainland kitchens are primary homes: colonials and splits from the seventies through the two thousands in Egg Harbor Township, Galloway, Linwood, Northfield and Somers Point, with thin builder-grade boxes, a peninsula that cuts the cook off from the family and laminate counters. There the layout often stays, the cabinetry and stone change completely, and the wall between the kitchen and the family room is the one decision that changes everything.
The Process
How a design/build kitchen remodel works
A kitchen remodel starts with an in-home assessment: we measure, look at the framing above any wall you want gone, and check where the plumbing and the electrical panel sit. Our in-house designers then draw the layout in 3D, so you see the island, the range wall and the sightlines before anything is ordered. In the showroom you stand at real islands, open real drawers and hold door samples against real stone, with a designer beside you.
Once selections are final we write the fixed quote, prepare and manage the permit with your town's construction office, and order the cabinetry and stone before demolition. Our own crews handle demolition, any beam work, electrical, plumbing, cabinet installation, stone templating, tile, flooring and paint on one schedule. The same design/build process runs a bathroom remodel or a whole-home renovation.

Kitchen Remodeling in Atlantic County
Atlantic County kitchen remodeling runs from the island to the Pike. On Absecon Island we open the closed kitchens of Margate shore colonials and condos, rebuild Ventnor foursquare kitchens inside rooms that keep their trim and proportions, finish Longport kitchens to the standard the address expects, and open the fifties ranches and duplexes of Brigantine to the living space. On the mainland, where our studio sits, the work is the boom-era colonial in Egg Harbor Township, Galloway and Hamilton Township and the ranches and splits of Linwood, Northfield, Somers Point and Absecon, where builder-grade boxes come out and real cabinetry and stone go in, usually inside the existing layout. Permits run through each town's construction office under the state Uniform Construction Code.

Cape May County kitchens are mostly second homes, rentals and inns, and the houses are a different mix. In Cape May the job is a truly modern kitchen designed into a Victorian room that still honors the house, with plaster and original millwork respected and materials that run from period-appropriate to contemporary. In Avalon and Stone Harbor the raised shore homes want a kitchen that opens to the deck and the water. In Ocean City, Sea Isle City and the Wildwoods the capes and duplexes want storage and an island where a peninsula used to be. Year-round homes in Upper Township and Middle Township are closer to mainland work. Nearly all of it runs fall through spring, with photo updates for owners who are not there, so the kitchen is ready by Memorial Day.

Cabinetry, stone, tile and flooring from our showroom
Cabinetry comes through our partners at Cabinets Direct Wholesalers, in shaker and other door styles from lines like Fabuwood, Forevermark, JSI, Yorktowne and Wolf, with tall pantry runs, integrated refrigerator panels and custom range hoods built to the room. Countertops are marble, quartz and granite through Rye Marble & Granite in the same building, templated after the cabinets are set, with waterfall edges and full height stone backsplashes when the design calls for them.
Flooring is hardwood or luxury vinyl plank run through the whole first floor so there is no seam where a wall used to be, or porcelain tile. Hardware and fixtures come in the finishes you see in our gallery, brushed gold and black among them, and farmhouse sinks and pot fillers are planned into the plumbing drawings rather than added later. Timeline
How long a kitchen remodel takes, and what changes it
Most kitchen remodels run several weeks to a couple of months of construction once design and selections are final. A kitchen rebuilt inside its existing layout, with the sink and appliances near their old positions, sits at the short end. Taking out the wall to the living room adds beam work and a structural permit. Moving the sink or the range adds plumbing, gas and electrical. Running new flooring through the first floor adds days.
Custom cabinetry and stone have lead times, which is why we order both before demolition so the kitchen is never torn up and waiting. At the shore the calendar is the off-season, Labor Day to Memorial Day, and in Cape May's historic district an exterior change like a new window over the sink goes through historic review first. You get the schedule in writing with the quote.

Can you open my kitchen to the living space?
Usually yes, and it is the single biggest change you can make in most homes. Wall removals are structural work, which is exactly where design/build earns its keep: our designers and builders plan the beam work together and the fixed quote covers it before demolition.
Do I need to move the plumbing and appliances?
Only when it genuinely improves the layout. Keeping the sink and appliances near their positions saves real money, and our designers are honest about when a relocation is worth it and when it is not.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in New Jersey?
Yes when plumbing, electrical, gas or structure changes, which covers most real kitchen remodels and every wall removal. Replacing cabinets and counters in place usually does not. We prepare and manage the permit application with your town's construction office as part of the job, and on the island we check the flood status of the property during design.
What is included in the design phase?

Can I live at home during a kitchen remodel?
Most families do. We set up a temporary kitchen spot with the refrigerator and microwave, seal the work area from the rest of the house, and tell you the exact days the water or power will be off. Shore owners who are not in town get photo updates and video walk-throughs at each milestone.
Can you match the kitchen to the rest of my home?
That is the point of doing design in-house. Door styles, stone, flooring and hardware are chosen against your home's actual character in the showroom, so a kitchen in a Ventnor foursquare keeps its trim and proportions and a kitchen in a Longport custom home reads like the rest of the house.
